Finally, Washington State’s AP rankings have gone up matching with its College Football Playoff rankings. This became possible when Cougars defeated Colorado 31-7. This was indeed a very happy moment for WSU Cougars after a long time suffering during this whole season.
Maybe it’s because Apple Cup week is just around the corner but both Huskies and Cougars are making visible progress from the last few days. Huskies were almost out of the game but rose up 3 spots.
The Apple Cup is college football rivalry between Washington Huskies and Washington State University Cougars. This year the anticipation is flying beyond skies for the time these two largest universities of the Washington states will come face to face.
Owing to the 31-7 victory over Colorado this Saturday, The Cougars (9-1, 6-1 Pac-12) are still in lead over Huskies (7-3, 5-2).
Their magnificent performance during the match also pushed Washington State to No.8 in Associated Press Top 25 poll this week even leaving behind Ohio State and LSU. This the highest ranking the Cougars have been given in the last 15 years although they were No.8 for a week in 2017 as well.
While on the other hand, the Huskies managed to move 3 spots up to No. 17 this weekend other than that Utah (ranked no.21) is the only other Pac-12 team to be rank during this week.
The teams still got a lot to do before the Apple Cup week arrives. The Cougars are up against Arizona for a 7:30 p.m. game on Saturday at Martin Stadium. Arizona is 6-4 this season and the Cougars need to win this game if they still want to remain in the hunt for College Football Playoff.
